ROBERT O' BRIEN AWS, NWS


Robert J. O’Brien is a full time award winning artist and popular local and national workshop instructor. He is a signature member of the American, National and New England Watercolor Societies, and others.  He recently won the Honor Award for watercolor at the 66th Annual Academic Artists Association Exhibition held recently at Arts Center East in Vernon, CT. He also won the Silver Medal at the 2016 New England Watercolor Society’s Juried Members Exhibition at the Guild of Boston Artists. In 2015 he won the Richard Ochs Watercolors Award at the 39th International Exhibition of the North East Watercolor Society in Kent, CT, the Bradley C. Barnard Award at the 34th Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors in Old Forge, NY and the Juror’s Award at the Fall Juried Exhibition of the Vermont Watercolor Society. He was accepted into the 147th, 148th, and most recently in 2016, the 149th International Exhibition of the American Watercolor Society, held at the Salmagundi Club in New York, NY.


Robert was the Juror of Selection for the 50th Hawaii Watercolor Society’s National Exhibition in 2012, and will be the Awards Juror for the upcoming 40th North East Watercolor Society’s International Exhibition. He was recently featured in the February 2015 issue of Watercolor Artist Magazine, the Dec. 2011/ Feb. 2012 issue of the French watercolor magazine, l’Art de l’Aquarelle and Splash 15, The Best of Watercolor. He was a contributing writer to the Creativity Workshop column for the February 2011 issue of Watercolor Artist Magazine. Robert O’Brien serves as the Scholarship Chair for the American Watercolor Society. Robert lives and paints in Weathersfield, Vermont and teaches workshops throughout the United States, abroad, and now online.
